This easy pepperoncini dip is creamy, tangy and slightly spicy. It takes just 5 minutes to prepare and is best served with these homemade bagel chips, your favorite crackers or even fresh vegetables.
Combine softened cream cheese, pepperoncini peppers, pepperoncini juice, garlic powder and dried oregano in a mixing bowl and stir thoroughly to combine all the ingredients. Season with salt and pepper as desired.
Transfer dip to the serving container and chill in the fridge while the bagel chips are prepared.
Split bagels in half and slice each half into 1" wedges. Combine bagel pieces in a mixing bowl with olive oil, garlic powder, dried oregano, and salt. Toss together to make sure all of the bagel pieces are covered evenly with oil and spices.
Spread seasoned bagel pieces onto the prepared baking sheet and bake in preheated oven for approximately 15 minutes, tossing the bagel pieces halfway through cooking. Bagels pieces should be lightly browned and crispy.
Cool bagel chips completely and serve with the chilled dip.
Notes
Use block cream cheese for a thicker, creamier dip or whipped cream cheese for a looser dip.
Soften the cream cheese before using it to make sure the dip is mixed easily and thoroughly.
Chill the pepperoncini dip in the refrigerator while the bagel chips are being made.
Cut bagels into even pieces for even cooking and texture.
Make sure to toss the bagel chips halfway through cooking to ensure even cooking.
Substitutions and Variations
Bagels - Use onion or everything bagels, instead of plain.
Peppers - Pre-sliced pepperoncini peppers will make things easier, but can also be purchased and sliced.
More Spice - Add ½ teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes for even more spice.
Other Accompaniments - Serve the pepperoncini dip with fresh vegetables or crackers instead of the homemade bagel chips.
Make Ahead and Storage Instructions
Both the pepperoncini dip and homemade bagel chips can be made ahead of time. The pepperoncini dip will keep for 3-5 days when stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. The homemade bagel chips will keep in an airtight container for 1-2 days and can be re-crisped up under the broiler in the oven, if needed.
