These sweet and fluffy Nutella pancakes are perfect for a fun weekend breakfast or special holiday brunch. Nutella is mixed right into the best pancake batter for a tasty pancake with a hint of chocolate and hazelnut.
We love breakfast food at our house. Whether it's the weekend, a holiday, or even breakfast for dinner, we love all sorts of sweet and savory breakfast recipes. This recipe for Nutella pancakes is a twist on our favorite old fashioned buttermilk pancakes. Both kids and adults go wild for these pancakes, so make sure to make a double batch!
🍫 Ingredient notes
- Nutella - Nutella is a chocolate hazelnut spread that is slightly sweet and super delicious! It's mixed right into the batter to provide a hint of sweetness and flavor without it being too overpowering!
- Pancake mix - This recipe includes instructions for our favorite homemade pancakes that I have adapted slightly for this recipe. You can use a box pancake mix if you like, however, you will probably need to add more liquid than what is called for to thin out the batter.
🥣 Step by step instructions
First, combine all of your dry ingredients in a bowl and whisk them together to help remove any lumps.
Next, melt your butter and pour it into a small bowl with the Nutella and whisk it together. Add the egg and milk and whisk until smooth, then add the mixture to the dry ingredients. Whisk until the batter is smooth and no lumps remain.
Using a ladle or measuring cup, pour about ¼ cup of the batter per pancake on a preheated and greased electric griddle or griddle pan. Allow the pancakes to cook for about 45-60 seconds on the first side until they start to brown and bubbles form on the top.
Flip them over and cook for an additional 30 seconds until they are lightly browned on the other side and cooked through.
Top with chopped hazelnuts and maple syrup if desired!
⭐ Top tip
Cook pancakes no higher than medium low heat. If the heat is too high, the outside of the pancake will cook too fast and the middle will still be raw.Print
